HIGHLAND TERRACE II
SAGAPONACK, NY
Located in Sagaponack, Highland Terrace II is conceived as a modern retreat shaped by clarity, proportion, and a deep connection to the surrounding landscape. The residence balances strong architectural geometry with a restrained material palette, creating an environment that feels simultaneously sculptural and calm.
The design is organized as a series of layered volumes that carefully frame light, landscape, and movement throughout the home. Expansive glazing dissolves the boundary between interior and exterior spaces, allowing gardens, terraces, and sky to become integral components of the daily living experience. Public spaces open fluidly toward the outdoors, while private areas remain quietly protected within the composition.
Materiality was approached with an emphasis on warmth, texture, and permanence. Natural finishes and restrained detailing soften the contemporary forms, allowing the architecture to feel refined without excess. Light and shadow animate the residence throughout the day, reinforcing a constant awareness of time, season, and atmosphere.
The home is designed not as an isolated object within the landscape, but as an extension of it. Carefully choreographed sightlines create moments of compression and release, balancing openness with intimacy and establishing a seamless dialogue between architecture and environment.
Throughout the project, the emphasis remains on experience rather than gesture alone; creating spaces that feel effortless, immersive, and deeply connected to place. The result is a contemporary residence that reflects a quiet sophistication rooted in proportion, materiality, and the enduring relationship between architecture and landscape.
