BMABLUFF POINT II

BLUFF POINT II
SAG HARBOR, NY
Nearly cubic in proportion, the efficiency of this home’s form maximized the potential of a tightly constrained lot overlooking Sag Harbor Cove. Facing the street, a slatted cedar awning articulates the entry and provides shading, while at the second floor a ribbon of windows wraps around the second floor and introduces a band of transparency. The slatted wood material carries into the interior entry hall and wraps the central circulation core, using texture to emphasize the experience of navigating these axes.

At the water side, the restraint of the entry elevation gives way to an exuberant two-story curtain wall that opens public spaces and the master suite to their surroundings. At sunset, the entire façade glows orange and the house itself becomes a canvas for the spectacle of nature.
